Website Design Trends for 2019

19 Dec 2018

Back in November, we covered Digital Trends for 2019 and with 2018 coming to a close, we wanted to highlight some of the upcoming website design trends for the upcoming year.

Video Banners

Video banners are a perfect way of giving your customers a quick snapshot of your business, product or service – they say that people eat with their eyes, so what better way to convey your brand and message quickly than with a stunning snapshot of your business? A video banner can make a complex message simple, it can peel back the curtain and give your customers an open and effective way of understanding you, who you are and what you are all about.

Video content is utilised much more effectively these days. A few years ago, the last thing you wanted was a huge video file buffering or loading in the background. But with superfast broadband and 4G technology now pretty much part of everyday life, your customers won’t even see the difference between a video loading or not.

Over the past year the team at Hush Digital have designed a few new websites with video banners – if you’ve got time, check them out today;

Mobile First

We have been banging the mobile first drum at Hush for a while now and while all of our recent websites have been designed with mobile in mind, we know that there are plenty websites out there that fall foul of being mobile first. Not only do you want your website to work on any device, but you also want Google to index it as a priority. Back in 2015, mobile searches overtook desktop searches and in accordance with this, Google changed the way it prioritised websites that are mobile optimised over websites that aren’t. If you are investing heavily in an SEO strategy you will want your website to be optimised to its full potential.

Website Speed

This is probably something that will have been on Website Trend lists for 2018, 2017, 2016 and so on. With this in mind in 2019, you will want to make sure that your website loads quickly. We are an impatient bunch, so when we don’t get what we expect on time, we will disengage and find something that does load fast. Recent studies have shown that 50% of customers will expect a website to load in 2 seconds or less, if it doesn’t they will abandon the site completely. Can your business afford to lose maybe 50% of potential customers from your website?

Flat Designs

Minimal and flat doesn’t have to mean boring. Designers and developers have been creating fresh, simple and flat designs to aid mobile performance but with stunning design elements, pictures and videos. What else will a flat design bring to your website? Well if designed correctly the website can further aid your speed requirements that Google is looking for when indexing your website.

Live Chat

We mentioned Live Chat back in our digital trends blog back in November, but we think that it is so important we need to mention it twice. Live Chat has evolved in 2018 and will further grow its role in how we communicate with our customers in 2019. With AI and machine learning, you won’t need a dedicated member of staff to manage Live Chat all the time. With enhanced autoresponder functionality, customers won’t know if they are talking to someone sat responding or your website doing it for you. When you set out to develop your new website in 2019, we advise that you look to implementing a Live Chat function.

If you are looking to launch a new website in 2019 why not contact the team at Hush Digital and start the new year with a brand new website designed with 2019’s trends in mind?
