Saint Michael’s Hospice is part of North Yorkshire Hospice Care, an independent charity with a family of services which include Saint Michael’s, Herriot Hospice Homecare and Just ‘B’.
SMH had a web presence, however, it was a number of years old and required a full redesign to refresh visuals and functionality. The user experience was not what the client needed it to be, and the site needed to work harder to generate more income for the charity side of the organisation.
The website needed to increase impact and sustainability by acting as a key hub for supporters, providing information for people seeking to use or refer to patient services, providing the information for people interested in working for the charity and supporting the continued development of trust and belief in the charity.
Hush delivered a brand new, clean and fresh website design that segmented the very different areas of the site with very different target audiences. It was important that a user looking for hospice support was not bombarded with fundraising requests. Still, it was important for a user wanting to support SMH’s work to be able to quickly and easily find this information.
We created a tiered menu structure, so clearly set out the various essential menu items, including a large donate now call to action button. The SMH brand palette is incorporated throughout the design, with colour blocks and call to action coloured accordingly.
The development team then crafted a robust back-end system on the WordPress platform, with various tailored modules and integrations to cater for critical sections of the site, including an events system, site-wide search, third party integrations for donations and recruitment functionality, store locator and more
