Northumbria Victim & Witness Service (NVWS) helps people affected by crime in Tyne & Wear and Northumberland.
Supporting more than 25,000 victims every year, NVWS provides victims and witnesses with support after a crime, no matter who they are and what the circumstances. They offer independent, non-judgemental and free advice as well as bespoke support services that are personalised to the needs of each individual.
Funded by both the Northumbria Police & Crime Commissioner and Northumbria Police, the trained staff and supporting volunteers at NVWS assist in providing quality support to those affected.
Hush were delighted to be chosen by Northumbria Police to design a new website to better represent NVWS and their services.
A brand new design was required to reflect recent new branding, create a positive user experience and help users quickly and easily find the information they are looking for. Our goals were to provide a new and improved site navigation, create a simple, modern design created so a user can swiftly find what they are looking for, display up to date informative content, provide regular calls to action throughout so a user could get in touch if needed and deliver an easy-to-use CMS for the client.
The WordPress CMS also needed to easily cater for a variety of plugins and integrations to meet specific needs of the brief, including form-building functionality, SEO optimisation tools and functionality to allow a user to quickly exit or hide their browsing history.
The new website for Northumbria Victim & Witness Service was required to be an information and support tool, while being instantly engaging and intuitive to allow users to seamlessly browse the various support pages and other information available.
Hush delivered a brand new website for NVWS that is fresh, modern and super simple to navigate.
We crafted a fully responsive website design to be compatible with all device types, while creating a seamless user journey throughout and numerous calls to action to encourage visitors to discover the important information available to them and reach out for support if needed.
The simple menu navigation structure allows visitors to find what they need with minimal clicks and within the CMS this function is easily sortable via an intuitive drag and drop facility.
A highly intuitive Content Management System (CMS) on the WordPress platform was developed to allow for streamlined content management and other site elements.
To help users maintain their privacy while browsing the website, Hush developed a quick to use “cover my tracks” feature, which would navigate the user away from the site if they felt they needed to.
Hush also optimised the copy on the new website to ensure all content was search engine friendly.
The team at Hush were very responsive and understood the brief from the outset. The design team produced great mock ups and access to the demo site allowed for easy stakeholder engagement from my (customer) side.
