Durham High School For Girls is the only girls’ school in County Durham, providing a wonderful beginning for girls’ education from nursery to sixth form.
Durham High School For Girls provides a lively and caring community for girls throughout their education from age 3 to 18, based firmly on Christian principles.
Durham High School For Girls had an existing website that was no longer fit for purpose, with confused branding identity, outdated design styles and a structure that wasn’t the most user-friendly.
They therefore required a full overhaul to create a new, striking design that would engage their key target audiences, with a powerful back-end to allow for simple and straightforward content management.
Hush delivered a completely bespoke design with a unified brand identity, offering a much improved user-experienced throughout the website for a range of visitor types and purposes.
The new design is instantly intuitive and informative, with a clean and clear navigation structure to signpost a user on the desired journey, splitting the menu into a sticky top level navigation and a pop-out side navigation, to avoid cluttering and keep visuals clean. Crafted with mobile first in mind, the design is completely responsive to reformat fluidly across a range of device types and screen sizes.
A clean visual ensures that information for about DHSFG, school life, junior/senior houses and sixth form, admissions, community, term dates (and more!) is clearly presented. The site also features dynamic content throughout, including sliding banners, animated styling and video embedding, created a highly visual and engaging end result.
Key features of the new website include a slick events calendar showcasing upcoming events, an integrated news/blog area to keep users up to date with latest happenings, links to key third-party facilities, enhanced downloads functionality, a vacancies module for job openings and form builder setup for key form elements such as admissions and contact.
It was also essential that the new website was quick and easy for staff at Durham High School For Girls to manage key features and functionality of the website, so a WordPress content management system was the most fitting solution due to its strong usability and future-proofing for developments further down the line.
