County Durham Sport is one of 44 County Sports Partnerships across the country. The partnerships work closely with national, regional and local organisations to ensure that sport and physical activity are developed in a coordinated and effective way across the county.
The new County Durham Sport website development was part of a double redesign project alongside Tees Valley Sport, as the sites were a number of years old and due a full refresh in order to bring both the front-end visuals and back-end admin facilities up to date with the modern world of web.
The two County Sports Partnerships (CSP) previously had two separate websites, that they still wanted to keep separate with their own identities and content structures, but with a similar design framework that would demonstrate correlation between the two CSPs, whilst maintaining individual branding, imagery, colour schemes etc. to differentiate between the separate entities.
The client, therefore, required two new powerful websites that would provide news, information and links to the public, professionals and organisations who are interested in sport and physical activity. The sites needed to be highly engaging for a variety of target audiences, with clear navigation and signposting to key areas, ensuring a great user experience for everyone visiting the website.
The client was keen to conduct initial research and focus groups to provide feedback on preferred customer journeys and the desired user-flows of the new websites, tailored around evidence given by the client’s specific target audiences.
This vital information armed the team at Hush with the necessary facts and figures to then combine with our own user-experience knowledge to craft the structure and visual experience that was required for the new County Durham Sport website.
The design team then created a lively, professional, clear and fresh new front-end design for the County Durham Sport website that is fully responsive and will instantly attract visitors to want to explore further into the site, following a focused user-flow throughout. The design includes several bespoke page template utilising various layouts to feature text, tiles, static imagery, scrolling imagery, galleries, embedded videos, embedded audio, contact lists, downloadable documents, and more!
Other key features of the new website include key table and map functions, a social wall to promote vacancies/news/events and social media feeds, newsletter signup, a fully integrated sports directory, integrated calendar facilities, key survey tools and links to/from important third-party websites.
