Meet The New ‘Bot – Darren!

1 Nov 2020

Even with the current pandemic and restrictions in place, last month Hush welcomed a new ‘Bot to the team, Darren.

Darren joined the HushBots as our new Front End Developer and comes armed with a raft of design and development skills. While Darren is working remotely, we had the chance to virtually catch up with him recently to chat about why he decided to join Hush, his goals for the future and to find out a little bit more about him.

Tell us a little bit about yourself

I have just finished working in the Outdoor Learning Industry running Outdoor Activity Centres in Norfolk and Surrey. My interest in web development started when I was 14 in school and I’ve never stopped developing websites ever since.

You’ve been part of the team for a few weeks now, how’s it been?

I’ve loved it, being able to do what I wanted to get into since I was 14 has been great. I love the fact that I’m able to code on the platforms and technologies I love to use but also I am enjoying finding out about the others that the team at Hush use.

What made you decide on joining the HushBots?

The team, I have been made to feel very welcome and I am supported. I’ve also been trusted with a project from day one which has given me ownership and meant I can really put my mark on it.

What are you looking forward to working on in the future?

Large websites for clients to enable them to go more online but also working on something that is new and exciting.

Highlights of your career so far?

Learning new ways of production websites, I have loved the way Hush has implemented the use of WordPress and their designs.

What do you prefer, front end or back end and why?

Bit of both really, I like being able to produce those great designs for users with all the very different ways depending on the design and what the user wants. I also enjoy working on back end to enable large scale complex website to work.

What’re your early impressions of Hush?

A great team that has drive but also knows how to have a laugh.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

Gaming, Whitewater Kayaking, Dog Walking and most importantly spending time with my family, I have a 6-month-old daughter born during Lockdown which has been fun.
