Is Your eCommerce Website Ready for Black Friday/Cyber Monday?

25 Nov 2019

When it comes to big sale days like Black Friday and Cyber Monday, it’s important to make sure that you have everything prepped and ready sooner rather than later!

Every year more and more retailers choose to take part in the mega-deal weekend, with more shoppers also opting to get involved. With the number of shoppers on the rise, so is the number of shoppers who choose to avoid the shops altogether and steer towards online shopping in an attempt to try and avoid the busy shops and find what they want in a matter of clicks.

So count your stock and get your website ready for the oncoming storm of Black Friday and Cyber Monday Traffic. We’ve put together a few tips to help you get the most out of the four day weekend and have a successful Black Friday & Cyber Monday.

Let Your Customers Know!

There’s no point preparing your website for the big money-saving weekend if nobody knows about it! So let your customers know about your deals a week or so before by using email marketing. Sending your customers a mailshot which outlines what you’re doing, when you’re doing it and how they can get involved is an easy and effective way to spread the word. Just make sure to make a catchy and enticing subject line, to get them to open the email, along with some exciting visuals to avoid them bouncing.

It’s best to keep your customers updated with the latest news about your Black Friday deals. Sending your customers notifications or countdown emails one week before, one day before and on the day of the deals can help them remember you and can result in an overall traffic boost. However, make sure not to send emails too often as this could appear spammy and will only result in your customers getting sick of the constant emails and potentially unsubscribe.

Social media is another brilliant tool to raise awareness and drive traffic for up-coming offer promotions, with the likes of Instagram stories allowing you to use a broad range of engaging content and direct links to your website to convert your followers as quickly as possible.

Dedicate A Page To Your Deals

Avoid your customers from getting confused or disappointed when they add a product to their basket, only to find it’s still at full price, by adding a page to your website which is dedicated to Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals. The page can then feature products which are part of a specific deal and make it easier for your customers to find what it is that they are looking for. After all, the overall goal of a website isn’t just for generating more traffic and in turn more sales, but rather making your website’s user experience the best it can be, therefore increasing the possibility of the traffic which you’ve generated to return again and again.

There is still no harm in up and cross selling items that aren’t included in your deal, but make sure this is really clear to your customers as they’re browsing and buying!

3… 2… 1… Countdown!

There’s nothing quite like a countdown to excite customers and make them engage when the countdown reaches zero to see what’s up. So try adding a bit of excitement to the homepage of your website with a countdown which displays how long until your Black Friday to Cyber Monday deals go live! You could also add this to your email marketing campaign to instantly grab the readers attention when the email is opened.

Social Media Ads

As useful as it can be to inform your customers of something through the use of email marketing, social media ads are also extremely useful to use to help you achieve the same goal. Social media ads allow you to inform you current customers of promotions and deals by targeting specific target audiences who may not have heard of your company and its products before.

So make sure to plan your Black Friday/Cyber Monday campaigns. Set achievable goals, and choose the best online strategy to maximise your chance of success.
